# Chatbox setup

Chatbox is a desktop and mobile chat app. Add Claudech as an OpenAI-compatible provider.

## Before you start

- **A Claudech API key** from [API keys](https://claudech.com/api-keys). API access unlocks after your first purchase.

## Add the provider

Open **Settings → Model Provider**, add a custom provider and fill in:

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| API mode | **OpenAI API Compatible** |
| Name | `Claudech` |
| API Host | `https://api.claudech.com` |
| API Path | `/v1/chat/completions` |
| API Key | your `sk-...` key |
| Models | `claude-opus-5-5`, `claude-fable-5-1`, `claude-opus-5`, `claude-sonnet-5` |

If your version has a single URL field instead of host and path, enter `https://api.claudech.com/v1`. Save, then pick a Claudech model at the bottom of a chat.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Fix |
| --- | --- |
| `404` | Host and path together must make `https://api.claudech.com/v1/chat/completions` |
| `401` | Re-copy the key without spaces; check it is active under **API keys** |
| `402 insufficient_balance` | Top up under [Billing](https://claudech.com/billing) |
